Brian Williams - Pastor of Missional Communities
Brian serves as the Pastor of Missional Community. One of his deepest passions is in providing the resources and training that followers of Jesus find meaningful as they seek to live out the mission of God in today's cultural context. Brian sees the church as a vehicle for vibrant Kingdom expression in today's world. As such, the church is called to be part of the movement of God in the world. The reality that the living God is on an active mission of redemption in our world is the at the heart of what Brian seeks to do through ministry. His desire is to help equip people to live on mission and to fully participate in the movement of God's Kingdom.
In seeking to equip and resource God's people, Brian has several areas of ministry focus. These include small group studies that explore the cultural shifts that are taking place in our world, the training of leaders who can minister in the context of these changes, providing seminary and theological type studies for church ministry leaders, encouraging and resourcing missional communities (groups of 20-50 people who seek to live as extended family on mission together), as well as a deep love and passion for teaching and preaching.
Most of Brian's ministry has been spent serving as a pastor of local churches and as a professor of biblical studies in colleges and universities. He has a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D, in biblical studies from Baylor University.
Brian and his wife Donna come from the Hampton Roads area. They have two grown daughters who are each married and have one grandson.
