Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. Matthew 19:14
How do you see yourself? Are you a good athlete, or are you not that great? Maybe you feel like you are really smart, or maybe you don’t feel as smart as your friends.
Here’s an example of times I feel like I am not sure I am good enough. When new technology comes around, it can be difficult for me to understand it. I must ask for help so someone can show me. This makes me feel a lack of confidence. I think, “Why can’t I figure this out myself?" The truth is, it’s okay. I need to stop worrying, relax and see myself like God sees me.
We can all be confident when we have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior. By believing in Jesus as God’s Son and asking for his forgiveness, we are made clean in God’s eyes. I guess you could say that God sees us through rose-colored glasses.
This month, we are learning to see ourselves as God sees us, so that we can have confidence.
Confidence: Being self-assured by seeing yourself the way God sees you.
"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)
"God loved the world so much, that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
In the coming months as our lives become more “normal,” I encourage us to keep in touch with each other. Let’s continue to lift one another up in prayer. If you have a prayer request, you can now go on Facebook and request prayer. Through this new addition, we can easily pray together for one another.
Vacation Bible School - Register Now!
June 21-25, 2021
Have you been looking for a way to share your faith with your neighbors, friends and family? Here is an opportunity to do that!
This year's VBS, "Press Play," is all about learning to be confident in our faith. We've been on Pause for so long! Let's Press Play and get moving!
You can choose to attend online or in person. We will have an opportunity for kids to meet online and make new friends in smaller breakout rooms with cool lessons, videos and crafts. There is also an in-person VBS opportunity where families can attend together at Dover-Foxcroft Farm for fun lessons and activities.
The Virtual VBS sessions will meet every morning at 10:00 AM via Zoom, with awesome leaders and really cool activities--right from the comfort of your own home. The in-person Family VBS sessions will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at Dover-Foxcroft from 6:30-8:00 PM for three days of training from God’s Word, fun music that is full of praise, and activities for parents and children to do together. (If we get rained out, that session will be moved to the following evening.)
To wrap up the week, we will ALL meet together on Sunday, June 27, for a fun family celebration and picnic lunch at Dover-Foxcroft at noon. This will be a great time to have fun reviewing what we have learned, do a few dances, and have a picnic on the hill. It's also a great opportunity to meet other families in our community! We will end the afternoon with something really special and fun for all.
If you are interested in helping with either live or online VBS, please contact me or sign up as a volunteer at the VBS registration link. Together, we can make a difference in our community to BRING HOPE, SHARE CHRIST & IMPACT THE WORLD.
This Week in the Children's Ministry
Our elementary lesson this week is about how Joshua led Israel in the Battle at Jericho. (Joshua 5:13-6:20)
TRUTH: I can trust God no matter what.
BOTTOM LINE: Practice living for God.
Practice- To do something over, and over again, to gain the ability to do it well or easily.
MEMORY VERSE: "I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." (Psalm 27:13)
In this week's preschool lesson we will learn about the battle of Jericho and how we can trust God’s plan.
BOTTOM LINE: Who can trust God? I can trust God because God's way is perfect!
PRE-K MEMORY VERSE: “I trust in God. I am not afraid.” (Psalm 56:11)
Sunday Small Groups
We are so blessed at SHBC to have excellent children’s leaders. Our children are actively learning about the plans God has for them.
If your child is not active in a small group, we have options. You can request a link to the Zoom group that meets each Sunday at 10:30 AM and get the details on how to log in to one of our children's small groups online! Mrs. Christy and Mrs. Rhonda make this time educational, fun and interesting.
You may want to join our in-person family small group. We meet right after the Park & Praise service just ouside the big red barn at Dover-Foxcroft, and the younger children will meet inside for a lesson, activity and a time to play together.
You can also find short videos on our Spring Hill Facebook page of each Sunday's lesson for grade school and an easy-to-understand Pre-K lesson presented by our puppet friend, Penny.
And if you prefer to worship online, check out our YouTube channel or our church website! We want to make it easy for you to connect with one another!
Partnering with Families
Our desire is to provide a setting for families to develop a consistent, growing relationship with Christ. The children’s ministry team at Spring Hill Baptist Church is committed to partnering with families to connect and grow as we go together on God’s Great Adventure. The average church has only about 40-60 hours of potential influence with kids each year, the average parent/caregiver has potentially over 3000 hours of influence. To plant God's truths in our children's hearts we must work together. We’ll make this vision possible by:
We are grateful for the opportunity to walk with your family. For more information about our small groups for children or outreach activities connect with Chris Marcoguiseppe.
